Austin Family Portraits: The Caos

These kids are no strangers to my blog; Maddox has been one of my favorite subjects since he was a newborn and I finally got a hold of Miss Morgan this Spring when we did Easter photos. We just realized last week of all the years I’ve known the Caos (I met Lan when I first moved to Austin in 2003) this was my first time doing their family portraits. I understand this handsome little family will be expanding again in the next few years so I hope to improve my craft with hopes they’ll keep me around!

We chose a gorgeous day to meet in the dog park, it nice and sunny with a slight breeze…perfect for chasing kids and avoiding poo.

Early on, but not long before Little Miss Morgan opened up for the camera and later swayed her hips and lip synced to Justin Bieber. She has moves AND vocals. uh oh!!

Maddox loves electronics. He might have a future in technology or maybe engineering. Sometime in between my framing the shot and Maddox’s firing the shutter we cut off his parents heads. I still love this photo. His parents have been together for almost ten years and you can tell by the smiles on their faces their relationship is far from dull.

Warrior Status

For Sunday fun day, we drove over to Cedar Creek where I participated in the Warrior Dash. It was a 5k race with 7 obstacles which included: jumping over abandoned cars, climbing wooden barricades, rappelling tangled nets and ropes, hustling up and down giant bales of hay, zipping across wooden planks, jumping over fire, and dashing/crawling/falling in mud – all in the forest. Just as I was crawling through the last obstacle which required crawling through mud on all fours in order to avoid barbwire, I hear my husband yelling my name and as I was told I looked over with a big grin and a muddy tooth which apparently could have been mistakened for a gap. I definitely earned warrior status. I also have a huge battle wound in the shape of a pink bruise on my shin to justify the title. Fun times! I felt like a kid all over again.

Since we are leaving Thursday to spend Thanksgiving with my family, I prepared an Austin Thanksgiving dinner for our family here. I am most thankful I have not killed anyone with my cooking. Yet.

Officially comatose from all overeating and physical exertion but before I get some shut eye I wanted to share a sneak peek at my latest bride, Olivia, who looks straight off the cover of Vogue. She was simply stunning. Stay tuned for the rest.

Now, I sleep.

Austin Anniversary Photos: The Rincones (Part Deaux)

Humans have been known to celebrate almost anything. As a matter of fact, Hearing Aid Awareness Week (10/3-10/9),  National Chocolates Day (10/28),  National Businesswoman’s Week (10/18-10/24), and  Breast Cancer Awareness Month are among the many observances in October.

On the Sweetest Day (10/16), I got to meet with an amazing couple celebrating their anniversary. And while gifts have become somewhat of a mandatory practice, Blair and Michael decided against traditional and modern gift-giving lists and went for anniversary photos. What better way to rekindle those feelings that made you decide to get married in the first place? A couple in love is always something to celebrate and it is clearly evident in these images.

Anyone who knows me well knows that engagement sessions are my absolute favorite. I approached this anniversary session the same way I would any e-session, capturing a nice blend of candid and posed shots. As if having the great fortune to work with a beautiful couple (both inside and out) wasn’t enough to make my job easy, I was blessed with the most amazing lighting. And a shabby-chic east Austin home for locale makes it all the more unbeatable.

Blair and Michael, may these images transcend time. I hope you’ll enjoy the memories for many anniversaries to come!

Hallowe'en

We are thrilled about Tulsi’s first Halloween! Since she is still too young to get lost in a trivia corn maze, enjoy harvest decorations or hop on the bed of a truck for a hayride, we opted to stay local this year and paid a visit to a pumpkin patch just off South Congress. She was most fascinated by the sea of “bright-orange balls” and of all the pumpkins to choose from my silly little girl went for the big one with warts. Just like mom she is quite drawn to things with character. Ha!

Tomorrow morning we are heading over to Circle C for our play group’s Halloween party. There will be about 30 babies under one in costume. I’m bracing myself for all the queens and kings of cute.
