Exactly one year ago, I was recovering from the easiest labor that possibly ever was. It all started with one swim race in the pool, Clay Pit buffet for five, Sex and the City with Kelley & Thu (all on my due date). Then, sixteen hours of labor, three missed meals, and one Grandma making it from Austin airport to north Austin in record time later, we were blessed with the joy of tiny life. Happy birthday to my sweet angel, Tulsi!
“Thanks so much, Ziem! We had a blast with you. Will, who like I said usually hates pictures, said when we were driving home “That was actually so much fun!”. We can’t wait to see how they all turned out.”
This Memorial Day, will you be remembering a fallen soldier, welcoming the first blush of summer, or celebrating heroes and she-roes? I plan to sit by the pool with Kelley and Rebecca, then hopefully finish a collaboration piece I have been working on with Kim. Next in line is the engagement session of the most fun and handsome couple to be getting married, Michelle and Will (who is currently serving).
I hope you enjoy the sneak peek. Be sure to check back for more!
First, I’d like to thank Tara’s father for his generous bid of over $500 for a photo package I donated to the recent Christian Outreach Foundation Silent Auction. If you haven’t heard about this amazing non-profit, they provide free after school guidance to underprivileged children whose parents lack the resources to do so themselves. And the co-founder, Liz, is such a doll and a pleasure to work with; I’ve promised to donate to them again next year.
I can’t get enough of Tara and Noah, which is evidenced by the number of images I have to share with you all. This couple is simply fabulous and they undoubtedly furthered my already fanatical obsession with red lipstick, suspenders, big tops, and red & white stripes. How fitting was it that I would meet them just before one big, obnoxious birthday carnival? I smiled. I chuckled, especially after we were ejected from private property {a rite of passage}. My heart sang. And in the split second of meeting this twosome I felt so grateful and fortunate to be doing what I love- and that is meeting and photographing beautiful people!

We enjoyed a fun backyard carnival on this {excruciating hot} Sunday afternoon with our dear friends and family. Million dollar question of the day had to have been: “How are you going to top this for her next birthday?”. And the answer to that is simple- for Tulsi’s next and 1st birthday on May 31st we are going to enjoy a cake and quiet dinner with our family in an air-conditioned home as we count all our blessings in health, happiness, friends, family and goldfish. Thank you all for making Tulsi’s day so special!
After all the fun in the sun today Tulsi played hard, well past her usual bed time, and refused a second nap. If you look closely you will see that Aunties gave her an entire cake ball. I find that to be the reasonable explanation 🙂
Aria having a difficult time convincing Jack and Tulsi to volunteer for the dunk tank.
Our event quickly drawing to a close.
Thank you all for helping us celebrate Tulsi’s 1st birthday carnival.
